Learn the ancient art of wet felting by making a beautiful felt vase.
In this workshop, you will be shown how to place colourful merino wool tops on to a strong balloon, in order to create shape and structure. You will then be guided in the surface decoration of your vase, adding colour and pattern using wool, as well as silk and banana fibres for embellishment. Once this process is complete, we go on to felt the vase, by agitating the fibres with soapy water, and rolling gently on a bamboo mat.
This workshop is suitable for beginners. At the end of the workshop, you will leave with your vase still around the balloon. The vase will still be slightly damp, but after a day to fully dry, simply pop the balloon and the vase retains its shape. I will also provide you with some dried flowers to take home to place in your vase.
