Wet Felting – Bowl Making Workshop (12th September 2026)

Learn the ancient art of wet felting by making beautiful contemporary bowls from wool and silk.

In this workshop, you will be shown how to place colourful merino wool tops and silk fibres onto a purpose made ball, in order to create shape and structure. You will then then be guided in the surface decoration of your bowl, adding colour and pattern using wool, as well as silk, recycled silk sari fibres and banana fibres for embellishment. The silk adds beautiful texture and luminosity.

Once this process is complete, we go on to felt the bowl, by agitating the fibres with soapy water, and rolling gently on a bamboo mat. Your bowl can then be taken off of the mould and is ready to take home. We will start by making a small bowl and then you can move on to making a larger bowl. They are beautiful objects, can be used to house electric tealights and make great presents.

This workshop is suitable for beginners or those with experience. All materials, equipment and refreshments will be provided.
