Description
Learn to knit this 2-colour, squishy, stripy stitch!
Different to standard knitted ribbing, brioche uses slipped stitches and yarn overs to create its distinct silhouette of stacked columns of stitches. Working with two different coloured yarns gives you reversible stripes, with lots of squishy texture.
This workshop is appropriate for anyone who is comfortable with their knit and purl stitches. Experience with yarn overs and slip stitches is a plus, but these will be taught in the class for anyone who hasn’t encountered them before. We will be working from written instructions, but experience with pattern reading is not necessary.
You will need to bring your own yarn and 2 Double Pointed Needles.
Double pointed needles are a necessity, this technique cannot be done on normal straight needles.
I recommend a thicker yarn, and depending on your tension when knitting, going up a needle size or two than is suggested on the ball band.
For my sampler, I used a chunky yarn that suggested 6.0mm needles, but used 6.5mm double pointed needles.
If you’d like advice on which yarn and DPNs to purchase to use in this workshop, please arrive a few minutes early and advice can be given in the shop.
