In this three-hour workshop you will create a stunning snowflake, the design of which incorporates a variety of lesser-used stitches to create its intricate shaping. A good project for the confident crocheter who wants to experiment and upgrade their skills with a more complicated pattern (both written and charted), and expand their stitch repertoire.
You will need to bring your own yarn and matching hooks for this workshop. Choose a yarn that you are comfortable working with, and can easily identify your stitches. Fluffy or textured yarns will make it harder to see your stitches as you’re working them.
I recommend using a cotton yarn, for the rigidity of the finished product, however other yarns can still be used if you prefer. My sample used 22 metres / 25 yards of a DK weight yarn and a 4mm hook, and measures approximately 7 inches across. Your final yardage and object size may vary slightly depending on your tension.
I would recommend sticking with the hook size stated on the ball band for your chosen yarn – a larger hook will create a looser fabric, and will not hold its shape as well.
If you’d like advice on which yarn to purchase for use in this workshop, please arrive a few minutes early and advice can be given in the shop.
