Learn to crochet a bowl or basket. Why not make one to store some yarn? This project can be a fun introduction to working in the round.
You will need to bring along your own yarn and appropriate hook for this workshop. These baskets and bowls will work best if made from a thick yarn (thinner yarns can still be used to follow the pattern, but will be more fiddly and create a smaller finished project). Choose a yarn that you are comfortable working with, and can easily identify your stitches. Fluffy or textured yarns will make it harder to see your stitches as you’re working them. I have found the most success with acrylic, cotton, or t-shirt yarns.
Stitch markers, scissors, and a yarn needle for sewing in ends might also be useful, but will be supplied if you don’t have your own.
The basket on the left was made with Hayfield Bonus Chunky, and a 6mm hook.
The bowl on the right was made by holding 4 different DK weight yarns together, and a 7mm hook.
